Following the gritty, groove-heavy release of Fool’s Gold, Canadian songwriter Elliot C Way returns with “Margaret” — a slow-burning, soul-stirring B-side that trades the fire of outlaw country for the gentle ache of timeless storytelling.

Originally written during his time with The Wild North, “Margaret” has been reimagined with a new country feel and a depth only Way could bring, shaped by years of evolution as a songwriter and storyteller. Where Fool’s Gold hits hard with swagger and survival, “Margaret” leans into the vulnerable, the nostalgic, and the beautifully human.

Written about his grandparents, Margaret and Nelson Beattie, the song tells the true story of their decades-long love — a life lived together in rural Ontario, filled with hard-won moments of grace, resilience, and devotion. Told from his grandfather’s perspective, it’s both a tribute to his grandmother’s quiet battle with MS and a testament to his grandfather’s unwavering love and care through the difficult years.
